Most overseas visitors to South America will be able to travel on a passport, without the need for a Visa. Check the guidelines and the handy reference chart below. We aim to keep the information as up-to-date and accurate as possible. If you are still unsure you should seek advice from the relevant consular service.
General guidelines when visiting any country in South America:
- Proof of onward journey is required. i.e a return flight
- Passports must be valid for at least 6 months of entering the country.
- Where a Visa is not require, it is normal to be allowed to stay for up to 90 days. Staying for longer than the time permitted will normally result in a fine.
- Many countries enforce a small departure tax when leaving the country.
