Travelling from La Paz
The trip from La Paz to Uyuni is a long bus trip of at least 14 hours. We decided to take a slight detour to break this up, and headed south from La Paz to Potosi.
Potosi is significant both historically and geographically. It stands at over 4000m (13,000ft) above sea level making it one of the world's highest towns, and was also once the pride of the Spanish Empire due to it's silver mines. Today visitors come for the colonial architecture and tours of the mines.
